An Introduction to Yoga
Through posture, breath and meditation, yoga unites our physical, mental and spiritual bodies. The benefits of a regular yoga practices are legendary... clarity of thought, peace of mind, increased strength, grace of movement.
This session is intended to inspire you to practice as well as to demystify this ancient art. We'll travel to the heart of yoga and cover the fundamentals of a truly committed practice.

We'll explore the history, traditions and philosophy of yoga through study, meditation and discussion. Learn more about the 8 limbs of yoga, a discipline which purifies mind and body.

GayLynn Leonard - Willinsky is the new owner and instructor at Desert Yoga Center. She holds a BS Degree in Exercise Physiology and is an AFAA certified instructor and personal trainer.
Her teaching experience in the fitness industry for the past 18 years has nurtured her appreciation for Yoga as a gentle yet most effective approach to a balanced mind and body!
Her Yoga teaching emphasizes the mindful breath and development of inner awareness to release mental and physical stress.

Dear GayLynn,
"A friend told me that I needed to do something about stress. I was overworked, under exercised and out of balance with my job, kids, bills, etc. I had no time for golf, gave up tennis, and was gaining weight. When I walked into The Desert Yoga Center, my life changed. At first, I thought yoga was strictly a cerebral exercise. Boy, was I wrong. I worked up an awesome sweat, and felt rejuvenated after my first hour and a half session.
Strength, flexibility and mental control over your body are the keys to the practice. As a beginner, I was shown kindness, enthusiasm and support by the instructors and classmates. There is no competition, as you work to your individual ability and needs.
The Desert Yoga Center is a great place. Personal attention, a warm smile and yoga guidance are always there. The Center has brought balance to my life.
